SEG Automotive relies on Windchill PLM in the cloud

SEG Automotive, a leading global supplier of powertrain components, has completed a successful data migration to the cloud-based PLM system Windchill in partnership with system integrator – Transition Technologies PSC.

Challenges and goals

“We are in the midst of expanding our technology leadership to e-mobility and thus also becoming the driving force behind the mobility of the future. In addition to product development, this also includes an efficient digital infrastructure – in the plants and for all business processes. One of the components of this is the migration of our product lifecycle management to Windchill, which comes with many benefits for efficient global collaboration – and without any effort for maintenance and monitoring of the PLM hardware” – Julia Hartwein, IT Project Manager at SEG Automotive, explains the motivation behind the migration. “We were thrilled with how the TT PSC team guided us through the complex processes with their extensive professional know-how”.

Why did SEG Automotive choose PLM in the cloud?

For SEG Automotive the migration to a modern and powerful PLM system was crucial and needed to be carried out in a quick and secure manner. The cloud-based Windchill ensures a central “single point of truth” for shared data and content. Access control for projects and folders, like the infrastructure itself, is dynamically scalable and can be adapted to business requirements. Sharing product configurations with extended teams and partners helps streamline workflows across the global infrastructure.

Maintenance and support across systems from a single source

The maintenance and support of the PLM system in the cloud is handled by TT PSC. In addition to support for infrastructure problems in the 24/5 model, this includes second and third level support. This makes TT PSC the central and sole point of contact for support requests, also with regard to third-party providers such as PTC and Microsoft. For SEG Automotive, this means extremely simplified communication with a single point of contact who centrally controls and supports the solution finding process with comprehensive expertise across all systems.  Continuous system and security improvements are automatically delivered to SEG Automotive by hosting in the cloud in compliance with all security regulations.

Cloud hosting enables savings at SEG Automotive

The cloud model enables SEG Automotive to keep an eye at all times on the areas of the digital infrastructure where costs can be saved and where it is worth investing and further developing. The costs are only incurred for service capacities that are actually utilized.

By outsourcing support and maintenance to TT PSC, SEG Automotive benefits from TT PSC’s expertise and know-how on the one hand, while at the same time saving the costs and internal resources required to build and maintain a trouble-free and reliably functioning system.
