Transition Technologies PSC and Finsa – one of Europe’s leading wood-based manufacturers have launched a joint project to develop and deploy a Predictive Maintenance system across six production plants in Spain. Together, both teams are building a solution designed to monitor over 900 machines, with the goal of shifting Finsa’s maintenance strategy from reactive to data-driven. The project combines industrial connectivity, AI-powered analytics, and ERP integration in a real production environment.
Founded in 1931 in Santiago de Compostela, Finsa now employs over 3,300 people, generates more than €1 billion in annual revenue, and operates in over 60 markets.

The Challenge
In the wood processing industry, the failure of a single critical machine – a press, an MDF line or a motor can halt a significant portion of a plant’s output. Finsa aims to shift from a reactive maintenance model to a data-driven strategy that predicts technical issues before they lead to costly downtime.
Project Scope
The solution architecture rests on three pillars:
- Industrial connectivity. The Kepware platform provides secure data acquisition from machines. Finsa’s team designs and installs the sensors, while TT PSC delivers signal aggregation and transmission infrastructure.
- Analytics and AI. The ThingWorx platform combined with Machine Learning models enables real-time vibration spectrum analysis, trend analysis, and early bearing anomaly detection before faults escalate into failures.
- SAP integration. The system automatically generates job orders in SAP’s maintenance module at the moment an anomaly is detected, providing technical teams with contextual information about the required intervention at the right time.
Project Goals
The project targets a reduction in maintenance costs. Beyond the numbers, the goal is to give Finsa’s teams the capability to act before failures occur – eliminating both unplanned downtime and unnecessary inspections. Results will be validated as the system is deployed and refined across all six sites.
This is not standard technology deployment – it’s a joint engineering effort. Together with Finsa’s team, we are connecting Kepware industrial connectivity, ThingWorx analytics and ML models, and automatic job order generation in SAP into a coherent system _built around real production conditions. We have clear goals and we’re discovering the best path together. That’s exactly how meaningful industrial AI gets done.
