As of February 15, 2022, Atlassian has changed the licensing rules for its Server version solutions. These products are no longer expandable, nor can the number of users be changed. Companies using their own servers must choose: migration to Jira Cloud or the Data Center version of Jira. The choice depends on the individual needs of each company and requires detailed analysis.
We view the expiration of support for server licenses as an opportunity for growth and change, allowing companies to operate in a more modern way and gain more efficient work environments that will continue to evolve.

Types of migration
There are several types of migrations, which can be divided into full and partial, depending on the needs and requirements of the company.
Full migrations
Jira Cloud to Jira Data Center
Migration from Jira Cloud to server-based (the Data Center model is a clustered server environment, for more on this topic: Data Center - what is it and why should you invest in this solution?) is often the result of an organization's growing needs. The cloud has some limitations in terms of extensibility and expandability, which can lead to the decision to move to a more flexible server environment in the Data Center model.
