In 2014 the world market of esthetic medicine was worth 2.7 billion dollars and according to expert estimations, by 2019 it will reach a staggering sum of 4 billion dollars. It’s a dynamically developing market, where a growing number of people wish to enhance their look. Company Next Motion saw a potential in this trend and began offering professional and innovative solutions used in the area of esthetic medicine.

Challenges and needs

People coming to see an esthetic medicine doctor expect professional care, quality, and safety of the performed procedures. In order to raise the level of the services it offers, Next Motion was searching for a solution that would result in diminishing the risk of complications during surgical procedures and simultaneously translating into their effectiveness. Additionally, the location of the patient’s venous blood vessels which are not visible to the naked eye poses a growing difficulty during every procedure.

Implemented solution

The French company noticed the potential of the Augmented Reality technology, whereas Transition Technologies PSC created an application for Microsoft HoloLens glasses. The proposed TTPSC solution takes the surgeon through the entire medical procedure and, at the same time, identifies those parts of the patient’s body which should be subjected to procedures and risk areas which should be avoided. Thanks to the state-of-the-art facial recognition engine, the application uses a real 3D hologram which is adjusted to the patient and observes his/her movements so as to maintain the continuity of the image matching. This allows the surgeon to see the veins, arteries, and facial muscles and in the case we present, also botox injection spots

Results

The Augmented Reality application embedded by Transition Technologies PSC offers the adjustment of the flexible face model and allows the doctor to choose between the layers of the hologram. The solution may be applied for every patient whereas the surgeon has a chance to work with the latest and most updated information. This innovative product created in the result of the collaboration between Transition Technologies PSC and Next Motion considerably decreases the risk of complications during procedures simultaneously improving their effectiveness, which is demonstrated in the following video.
