In case of an instance built from Atlassian systems, business customers can choose from several options: own servers, external provider servers (the same applies to the Data Center model) as well as a public cloud or the Atlassian Cloud platform. Atlassian Cloud
Atlassian systems (Jira, Confluence, etc.) in the Cloud version are different from the existing systems prepared for the Server and Data Center versions. The manufacturer has improved solutions for the Cloud version with respect to speed and ease of installation. System configuration has also been made simpler, but now companies have a smaller impact on software customisation and have slightly less possibilities when it comes to adjusting it to their unique needs. “Jira Cloud” means that the system is maintained by Atlassian on the so called “cloud”.
Like in the case of the Server and Data Center versions, the customisation of functionalities is possible thanks to the installation of appropriate add-ons from the Atlassian Marketplace – more and more application manufacturers also place add-ons in the Cloud version on the platform. Atlassian offers Cloud software in 4 options:
Standard
- Maximum number of users: 10 000
- Space/data size limit: 250GB for each system (*you may install both Jira Work Management – earlier known as Jira Work Management Cloud – and for example Confluence Cloud, and for each software you can use up to 250GB).
- Fee: annual or monthly, calculated based on the number of users and system add-ons.
- Systems available for this option: Jira Work Management, Jira Service Management Cloud, Jira Software Cloud, Confluence Cloud.
Premium
- Maximum number of users: 10 000
- Space limit: none
- Fee: annual or monthly, calculated based on the number of users and system add-ons.
- Systems available for this option: Jira Software Cloud, Jira Service Management Cloud, Confluence Cloud.
- Also: new system functions; guaranteed SLA of 99.9%; 24/7 technical support with 1 hour response time for critical problems.
Enterprise
- Maximum number of users: unlimited
- Space limit: none
- Fee: annual or monthly, calculated based on the number of users and system add-ons.
- Systems available for this option: Jira Software Cloud, Jira Service Management Cloud, Confluence Cloud

Where is the data stored?
Atlassian has its own server rooms where it hosts systems for customers of the Cloud version in the United States, Germany, Ireland, Singapore and Australia. The location of the machines on which your instance will be located depends on the location of your headquarters. For customers from Europe, European locations will be selected automatically.
Other things you should know about Jira Cloud:
- In the case of the Atlassian systems in the Cloud version, hosting, software settings and software maintenance is the responsibility of the manufacturer. Unlike the Server or Data Center versions, the Cloud version does not require advanced care from system administrators.
- Upgrading to the latest versions is automatic.
- Fees are charged as monthly or annual subscriptions – depending on your decision.
- As with the Server version, Atlassian Cloud systems are also offered to educational institutions and charities at reduced prices.
- At the moment, the number of add-ons from the Atlassian Marketplace available for the Cloud version is limited, but it continues to grow.
